As 2014 draws to a close, Quality Service Moving, a Veteran owned and operated company, has spent valuable time giving back to the community.
On Saturday, December 13 2014, Quality Services Moving participated in the National Wreaths Across America Day and its mission to Remember, Honor and Teach. This year marked the 150th anniversary of Arlington National Cemetery and the 23rd year wreaths have been placed on the graves of all service members who have served throughout our country’s many conflicts.
This year also marked the first year all the graves of Veterans were honored by the laying of over 230,000 wreaths. With the help of about 50,000 volunteers a wreath was laid on every Veteran’s grave making this the largest National Wreaths Across America Day in history.
Quality Services Moving had the honor of hauling a truck full of over 3,400 live wreaths from Columbia Falls, ME to Arlington National Cemetery. The ride home to VA was cold, windy, and wet with ice and snow, but as our truck rolled slowly through Arlington National Cemetery it was a moment lost in time to respect those who gave up their lives for our country.
The morning was chilly and filled with bundled up volunteers anxiously waiting in line for the opportunity to lay wreaths on a deserving Veteran’s final resting place. Quality Services Moving employees quickly unloaded the truck with exuberant energy while getting to know strangers who were all there for the same reason.
As the trucks throughout the cemetery emptied and preparations for them to return to their hubs began, volunteers went on their way to quietly honor our Veterans. Listen closely to the final salute of the trucks silently sounding their horns in honor of those who have given us our freedom. The cemetery was once again quiet with glistening wreaths honoring our nation’s heroes.
